Exploring the World of Audio CD Collecting
When CDs were introduced in the early 1980s they were quite obviously an improvement over the existing audio formats (it seemed to most listeners at the time). Within just a few years they had largely replaced vinyl and cassettes for everyday listening. Then, almost as quickly, in the mid-2000s they became "junk" as people moved to MP3s and then to streaming.
Then a funny thing happened: for collectors, CDs quietly became one of the best values in physical media.
This site is about the world of CD collecting: the hunt, the music, the little niche things that collectors geek out about, and the simple joy of owning the music you love - the artwork, the lyrics, a physical object to be displayed and admired.
Content on this site will primarily be in the form of short articles and essays posted periodically on various topics of interest to the CD collecting community.
